Eliza Bracken is an Indianapolis native and Indianapolis-based cello teacher and freelance orchestral and chamber musician. Eliza Bracken has been Cello Faculty at the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy since 2022 and Operations Coordinator for the academy since 2024.
Eliza began cello at the age of ten with Ingrid Fischer Bellman, retired cellist of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. From 2012-2014, they studied with Peter Stumpf, former principal of the LA Philharmonic and faculty member of the IU Jacobs School of Music. Eliza graduated with honors in 2018 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Their cello professor was Brandon Vamos, renowned cellist of the two-time Grammy Award-winning Pacifica Quartet.
Passionate about teaching and learning, Eliza has experience working with children in education, both in music and in language. They spent a year and a half (July 2019 - October 2020) living and working in Busan, South Korea, teaching English as a Foreign Language to kindergartners and elementary-aged students. Eliza brings the lessons from this intensive teaching experience to their teaching approach, placing patience and flexibility paramount to a positive and effective learning experience.
Eliza has completed training for ECC and Suzuki Books 1-3 with Dr. Tanya Carey. They completed training for Book 4 with Zachary Sweet in June 2024.
When Eliza is not playing or teaching cello, you can find them at a local coffee shop listening to YouTube and working on their laptop.
